WITH THE EXHIBITION “EMPOWERMENT FACES”, VISUAL ARTIST ADÉLIA CLAVIEN PRESENTS US WITH A NEW LOOK AT THE WOMEN’S QUEST FOR EQUALITY. HIGH IMPACT PORTRAITS BRING WOMEN WHO HAVE STOOD OUT IN THIS MILLENNIAL EFFORT TO PROVIDE EQUAL RIGHTS AND OPPORTUNITIES. A DAILY STRUGGLE SO THAT NO ONE IS JUDGED BY GENDER, RACE OR CREED. SOME OF THESE WOMEN ARE FAMOUS, BUT LITTLE IS SAID ABOUT THEIR ACTIVISM. OTHERS REPRESENT A WHOLE LEGION OF ANONYMOUS ARDWORKERS WHO BUILD, EVERY DAY, A MORE EQUAL AND LESS UNFAIR WORLD.
THE PROJECT INCLUDES PORTRAITS OF WOMEN, MADE FROM MIXED TECHNIQUE AND HIGHLIGHTS THE MILLENARY EFFORT THAT WE WOMEN SEEK FOR THE RIGHT OF EQUALITY AND OPPORTUNITY. THE CENTRAL MESSAGE IS THAT NO ONE IS JUDGED BY GENDER, RACE OR BELIEF.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Adélia Clavien from Miège (VS) is born in Portugal, has been living in Switzerland since 1981, and lives in Trélex. Although she spent a long time among the artistic community in Valais, she attended her first painting courses and started photography in St Gall where she lived 10 during years. Curious and passionate, Adélia has been fascinated by Arts since she was young and has been working in the IT domain for over 20 years. As an artist, she works in an autodidactic and passionate manner.
She explores various painting technics (acrylic, charcoal, sand, stained glass, epoxy resin etc) and use her knowledge of photography to created original paintings mixed with photography – New Pop Realism. The various presented themes allow us to escape in a colored and mysterious universe – Adelia’s universe. Adelia works part-time in order to have more time for her artistic activities (photography, painting, music, dancing). Self-educated, she is multitalented, speaks several languages, plays several music instruments, is comfortable with the new technology, and is a naturally open person.
Pop Art technique: The mixed media technique brings an extra dimension to my work because it is full of elements, textures, details and allows me to explore the interactions between the different mediums and graphic instruments. The use of a mixed media technique offers me immense possibilities of expression and allows me to personalize my artistic language. In painting, we speak of mixed technique when the colored matter includes at least two binders of different nature or heterogeneous materials. In the history of painting technique, artists have often mixed materials to achieve their ends. My "mixed media" paintings are compositions containing up to 15 (or much more) photos superimposed and digitally processed.
