ARTIST STATEMENT

"Art is when you hear a knocking from your soul… and you answer it." — Terri Guillemets

Answering the knock from my soul is how my artistic journey unfolds. Every mark made, every drip, splatter and hue I choose is a conversation between my inner world and the canvas. My art is not just about creating something visually appealing; it's an exploration of the profound connections I have with my surroundings and the emotions they stir within me.

As a multidisciplinary artist, my work spans across painting, writing, and performance, each medium offering a unique avenue to express my curiosity and passion. Whether it's through the abstract figurative expressionism in my paintings or the narratives in my screenplays, I strive to evoke a sense of wonder and introspection.

My approach to art is deeply influenced by my love for the imperfections and the unpredictable nature of life. In the chaos, there's a beautiful calm that I aim to capture and share with my audience. My paintings, characterized by expressive mark-making and layers of texture, invite viewers to pause and reflect, to find their own answers in the swirls of color and form.

I believe in the power of art to transform, to heal, and to connect us more deeply to our own humanity. Each piece I create is a step towards understanding myself and the world a bit better. It's about being bold, breaking through the mundane, and celebrating the "WOW" of existence.

My mission as an artist is to inspire others to listen to their own soul's knocking. To encourage them to embrace their unique voice, to find the courage to express it and to find the calm in the chaos.
