Born in South Africa, and having lived in both the US & Australia Anthea Ben-Naim is an artist drawn to the natural world’s wonders.
A mother of two, living at the forefront of climate change in NSW Australia, her work stems from an anxiety to protect the fragile: both children & the natural world. Their future and its preservation are themes that occur repeatedly in Ben-Naim’s work. She hopes to be a voice for action and preservation against the decline of the natural world.
ARTIST STATEMENT
I am an artist captivated by the natural world and our role in preserving its beauty.
Based in Sydney, Australia, my work is deeply rooted in a figurative approach, exploring nature’s beauty and fragility. Through delicate studies, vibrant color palettes, and intentionally cropped compositions, I aim to highlight the fleeting yet enduring essence of the natural world.
I work primarily with acrylics on artist board and watercolors, embracing their versatility to convey both intricate detail and expressive movement. My paintings invite viewers to pause, observe, and reflect on the beauty that surrounds us—often overlooked yet profoundly significant.
At the heart of my practice is a desire to inspire appreciation and awareness, fostering a deeper connection between people and nature.
