ARTIST BIO

Samantha Malone is an abstract artist originally from Australia’s east coast, currently living and working in Tel Aviv, Israel. Her work is inspired by geometric abstraction, cubism, and the dynamic interplay between order and chaos. Her paintings are characterized by dynamic compositions, vibrant colors and layered patterns. Through her work, she reflects on themes of fragmentation and interconnectedness, illustrating how distinct elements can coexist to create a visually compelling narrative.

Working primarily with acrylic paint, Samantha employs a mixed-media approach that includes markers, pencils, and oil sticks to create depth and texture. Her process involves layering colors and patterns, sometimes scraping back layers to reveal hidden hues beneath. This technique encourages viewers to engage more deeply with the composition. The interplay of bold shapes, organic forms, and vibrant colors invites a sense of movement and emotion, along with an element of playfulness.

Since launching her professional practice, Samantha has exhibited internationally, including participation in the 2023 London Art Biennale. Her work has also been featured in several exhibitions, such as those hosted by Artio Gallery, Florence Contemporary Gallery, and Art Fluent Gallery. Her paintings have appeared in a range of international publications, including Women United Art Magazine, Art Seen Magazine, and Arts to Hearts Magazine. In 2024, she was longlisted for the Women United Art Prize and the Visual Art Open Prize. Her works can be found in private collections across Europe, North America, Australia, and Israel.


ARTIST STATEMENT

My art explores the interconnectedness of life through the lens of abstraction. I use bold and vivid colors, looping forms, and complex layering to reflect the interconnected web of existence that ties all things together. The emotional power of color and abstract forms is fundamental to my work. By using a vibrant spectrum, intricate patterning and diverse shapes, I aim to tap into an array of emotional responses, guiding the viewers through an immersive experience. I work primarily with acrylic paint on canvas, often incorporating mixed-media techniques, such as layering the artworks with watercolor pencils and acrylic markers to create depth and visual engagement. My creative process is defined by my self-taught approach, which involves intuitively building layers and patterns until the artwork feels complete.
