WEAVING BODIES EXPLORES THE INTERPLAY BETWEEN THE HUMAN FORM AND NATURE, MERGING FIGURATIVE REALISM WITH ABSTRACTION. FRAGMENTED FIGURES EMERGE AND DISSOLVE INTO FLOWING NATURAL PATTERNS AND TEXTURES, REFLECTING BOTH THE DISCONNECTION OF MODERN LIFE AND THE GROUNDING PRESENCE OF NATURE. EACH PAINTING CENTRES ON THE SUBJECT’S EXPRESSION AND POSE, CREATING A VISUAL DIALOGUE BETWEEN STRUCTURE AND MOVEMENT, INTERRUPTION AND HARMONY.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Robyn Asquini is a Canadian painter based in Toronto. She completed the Classical Drawing and Painting Program at the Academy of Realist Art and has received multiple awards for her work, including from the Art Renewal Center, BoldBrush, the Almenara Collection, Society of Canadian Artists, Canadian Portrait Society, and the Federation of Canadian Artists. Her work has been exhibited throughout North America and Europe.
"My paintings blend traditional figurative realism with abstraction, weaving together fragmented figures with organic forms and textures.
Featuring contemporary, solitary figures that are both interrupted and assembled by natural patterns, my work invites meditation on the disconnection and distraction inherent in contemporary life, and the grounding effect of nature. By combining classical painting techniques and materials with fluid abstract elements, I am to create emotionally direct images centred on my subjects, their expressions and poses, and sense of place."
